About

Brown County 4-H Youth Development offers hands-on projects in areas such as Cloverbuds (K–2), large and small animal science, expressive arts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), shooting sports, outdoor education in natural sciences, plant and soil science, family, home and health, and cultural projects. The program also allows participants to start their own project and take part in leadership and community activities. Each 4-H member selects one or more projects to complete during the year and participates in a series of educational activities related to those projects, often led by a volunteer leader.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

Through more than 300 programs and projects for youth from kindergarten through 13th grade and their families, Brown County 4-H Youth Development uses hands-on, experiential learning as a core approach. The mission of the Brown County 4-H Program is to provide opportunities for personal growth and to encourage the positive development of youth, their families, and their communities. Brown County 4-H Positive Youth Development is described as a community of young people, mentored by adults, who come together to have fun while learning life and leadership skills from kindergarten through 13th grade. The leadership team includes Melinda Pollen, 4-H Youth Development Educator; Jon Hill, 4-H Program Educator; Doug Thompson, 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator; and Jennifer Bartkowski, 4-H Program Instructor. The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension provides equal opportunities in employment and programming in compliance with state and federal law.
