Maydm’s mission is to provide girls and youth of color in grades 6–12 with the skills, experiences, and connections to pursue careers in and change the face of STEM. The organization states that it integrates STEM with programs and internships for middle and high school students using a holistic approach to learning and prepares students for a future in STEM through immersive programs and workshops. Maydm states that it boldly envisions equality for girls and youth of color in STEM professions.

Maydm describes a commitment to providing an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students. It states that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or any other characteristic protected by law, and that it is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to ensure equitable access to its programs and services whenever possible and appropriate.

Community and corporate partners are mentioned as part of Maydm’s community involvement, along with invitations to become a new partner or to bring Maydm to a school or organization. One testimonial notes that Maydm seeks to give youth power in creating their own technologies and content and highlights its focus on underrepresented groups in STEM, particularly girls and communities of color. Another testimonial comes from a recurring donor who connects Maydm’s work with access to tech-related jobs and resources in the Madison community and mentions supporting girls and youth of color in learning STEM skills in supportive environments. A parent testimonial describes a youth participant making lasting friendships through STEMinism camps over two years, staying in touch with peers, and the parent recommending Maydm programs and after-school programming to teens and families.
