Maydm’s mission is to provide girls and youth of color in grades 6–12 with the skills, experiences, and connections to pursue careers in and change the face of STEM. The program integrates STEM with programs and internships for middle and high school students using a holistic approach to learning and prepares students for a future in STEM through immersive programs and workshops. Maydm states that it boldly envisions equality for girls and youth of color in STEM professions and is committed to providing an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students. It states that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or any other characteristic protected by law, and that its programs and services are designed to ensure that every student has access to the skills, experiences, and opportunities needed to pursue careers in STEM. Maydm also states that it is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to ensure equitable access to its programs and services whenever possible and appropriate.

Maydm Programs notes involvement with community and corporate partners and invites organizations to become a new partner. One parent testimonial describes Maydm programs as having a STEM focus and mentions that participation has included attending professional sporting events, enrolling in summer college camps, having paid summer internships, and developing students professionally and academically. A student testimonial states, “I thought I couldn't code, but now I see that it's a lot easier than it seems! You can make anything, whether for fun or for a project. It is super fun and I look forward to doing it at home!” Another testimonial from someone who worked with the kids mentions using Micro:bits and describes seeing students go from saying “I can't do this” to asking “What else can I make it do?”
