About
St. Bonaventure CYO offers basketball, cross country, and track & field. The program includes these sports for students in the parish from grades 2nd–8th. All children play against others at their own skill level.
• Ages: 7–14 years old
In the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) program, all children play against others at their own skill level. CYO is a local parish-based group that emphasizes the teachings of Christ while instilling the joy of sport into its athletes. The athletic programs are an important youth ministry at the church and do not emphasize “winning at all costs,” and do not endorse non-becoming behavior. As representatives of the parish community, the program instills values of sportsmanship, fair play, both team and individual growth with Christian values, with the stated goal that at the end of the season the children are better athletes and better community citizens. All St. Bonaventure CYO players must reside within parish boundaries, or have attended Catholic Studies the prior year, and a parish boundary description is explicitly provided. The program relies on adult volunteers to help it run.
