The program is led by Prof Kaiju (‘lil Aaron), Head Instructor and co-owner of Kaiju Bros Jiu-Jitsu, Coach Alex, the kids' program head instructor and co-owner of Kaiju Bros Jiu-Jitsu, and Coach Aaron, who handles behind-the-scenes aspects of the academy and leads some classes. Prof Kaiju is a highly decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Master Ralph Gracie, a multi-time World Champion in multiple BJJ promotions with a competition record of 113/11/2, holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Hawaiian Kenpo, has a collegiate wrestling record of 195 wins and 32 losses, and is 2-0 in MMA and kickboxing. Coach Aaron has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu off and on for over 10 years and coaches the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club at UC Davis. Kaiju BJJ follows a one team philosophy where everyone is welcome regardless of affiliation, fitness, or skill level, and is a member of the Caio Terra Association, a network of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools that follow the standards of 12-time World Champion Caio Terra. Class sizes are intentionally limited, and multiple sessions run 7 days a week. Programs for children ages 5–12 are described as laying the foundation for a lifetime of health and fitness, and programs for teens ages 13–17 emphasize focus, discipline, and respect. Kaiju BJJ is involved with the UC Davis community by coaching the UC Davis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club and hosting the UC Davis Judo Club’s weekly practices. Students are advised to bring a gi for BJJ classes, comfortable athletic clothing for no-gi classes, a water bottle, a towel, personal hygiene items like a change of clothes and shower essentials, and personal protective gear such as mouthguards or knee pads. The first class is offered for free.
