Center Stage Productions Youth Theatre Programs is a non-profit youth theatre company that provides a wide range of classes and production opportunities for kids to express themselves creatively in a fun and professional stage environment. Center Stage Productions was started in 2004 by six women in San Diego County: Delnora, Gia, Coni, Tiffini, Mandy, and Lisa, and is celebrating 21 years. The mission of Center Stage Productions is to engage young people in musical theatre created in a safe and inclusive environment.
The organization states that anyone who wants to perform can, and they do not make cuts. It states that every request for tuition aid is granted. Center Stage Productions describes a long history of non-traditional casting that gives equal opportunity to every gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, race, and ethnicity, and notes that the board of directors and staff are committed to fairness and equal opportunity for all performers. Its Vision & Values emphasize community, inclusion, excellence in performing arts education and service, integrity, safety, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The organization states that it is committed to taking actionable steps towards a more diverse student body, more diverse leadership, more accessible programming financially, EDI training, more diverse programming, actively seeking feedback, and being open to change.
Center Stage Productions identifies as a North County San Diego youth theatre and notes that it provides an outreach program to Escondido schools. Parent and performer comments describe the program as a safe place for kids to express themselves, open and inclusive, and “like home,” and mention experiences of warmth, opportunity, and increased confidence.
