Pinewood has three campuses nurturing students from kindergarten through 12th grade and emphasizes a close-knit, family-like atmosphere, small class sizes, personalized attention, and deep care for each student. Its student learning outcomes, called the WISCRs, outline goals for student growth and integrate the mission into the daily school experience. All K–7 students participate in an annual performing arts production, and well over half of the student body plays on a Pinewood sports team, with athletes able to represent Pinewood from 4th through 12th grade. Each subject is taught by a specialized teacher, all K–6 students have PE every day for 166 days of movement and play, Happiness Week is devoted to joy and celebrated by all Pinewood students and staff, the Pinewood Scholars Program for juniors and seniors focuses on social entrepreneurship, and all sports opportunities are open to every student who wishes to join.
Pinewood’s mission is to create a community where students seek knowledge, demonstrate character, build confidence, and experience joy in an uplifting environment. In the 1950s, Gwen Riches began an after-school program in her home focusing on the performing arts. Students partnered with more than 300 local community service organizations last year. Pinewood School admits students of any sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, medical condition, gender identity, gender expression, or any other basis protected by law and does not discriminate in administration of its programs.
Testimonials from current students include Arjun ’25, who said, “I was once the student who was scared to be part of a community. Now with more passion and experience, I’m the student trying to bring people into it.” Christina ’25 said, “Pinewood encourages curiosity, and I’m always learning new things about myself and others.” Joey ’24 said, “I’m a maker, a musician, and a science nerd. This year, I’m trying choir and the school play for the first time. There is so much I want to squeeze in before I graduate. Through new experiences, I am becoming more sure of myself.” Riya ’26 said, “If you want to grow, this is the place to do it. Pinewood will help you expand on your interests no matter what they entail and will make sure you are growing into the best version of yourself.”
