About
Rancho Park Golf Academy Junior Golf Programs includes practice area drills and games, Par 3 course play, driving range sessions, and 18 hole course play. Camp days also include training in chipping, putting, and sand, as well as video swing analysis using advanced technology from JC Video for visual feedback and instant video replay. A typical day includes a lunch break in the middle of the day.
• Ages: 4–16 years old
• Schedule: Weekly camps Monday–Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm, with winter sessions in late December–early January, spring sessions in late March–early April, and summer sessions in early June–late August
• Price: TOTAL PER WEEK: $875 + 3% transaction fee ($901.25 total). Day Rate: $220 per day + 3% transaction fee ($226.60 total).
The camp follows a sample daily schedule of 9:00–10:00am practice area drills and games, 10:00am–12:00pm Par 3 course play, 12:00–12:30pm lunch, 12:30–2:00pm driving range, and 2:00–3:00pm practice area drills and games until pick up. The program uses professional equipment, including a video station for swing analysis. The camper-to-coach ratio is a maximum of 5 campers to 1 coach.
Camp is taught by Derrick Allen, who is the Rancho Park Golf Course Head Pro, a golf coach for Crossroads, Marymount, and Geffen Academy, and a PGA Associate. Derrick Allen is also the Founder and Director of the Westside Junior Golf Tour and the Rancho Park Golf Academy, and the CEO of Alan Pacific Group. The Alan Pacific Foundation presents these Junior Golf Programs.
The program includes an Advanced Golf Camp for tournament players 11–17 years old or those qualified by Derrick, and campers in the Advanced Camp play the 18 hole course daily. Westside Junior Golf Tour tournaments are expected for all junior campers. The program also offers private golf lessons for kids ages 4–17 and adults of all skill levels, as well as an After School Program focused on junior golfers’ skills year round.
The Alan Pacific Foundation states that it is dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved children by offering golf, academic, and music programs, and that through mentorship and skill development it provides inner-city youth with tools they need to succeed in school and in life. According to the mission statement, the programs foster confidence, discipline, and leadership, and aim to ensure every child has an equal opportunity to thrive. Community involvement includes charity and outreach programs and Boys & Girls Club and recreation center free events.
Families are asked to send campers with golf clubs (or use provided clubs if they do not have any), a snack, a water bottle, a sack lunch or money to purchase lunch at the course (with $15 listed as sufficient), sun visors or hats, sunscreen, and a smile. Drop-off and pick-up instructions specify that ages 4–9 meet at the Par 3 area and ages 10–15 meet at the driving range.
