Mary Ellen Hill, Storyteller & Teacher, leads FAD PAD Enrichment Classes and has been teaching in her backyard studio called the FAD PAD for the last 45 years. She holds a BA in Education from St. Mary's College in Indiana, a Life Teaching License in Elementary and Special Education, a Storytelling Certification from Dominican College in San Rafael, CA, and an MA in Spirituality and Eco-Justice from The Institute of Culture and Creation Spirituality at Holy Names College in Oakland, CA. Her storytelling work includes the performance specialty “We Are The Stars That Sing: The Story of The Universe” and the storytelling performance “We All Contain A Spark!” that weaves together a scientific explanation and a mythic interpretation of the 13.8 billion year old evolution of the Universe, along with a multicultural folk and fairy tale repertoire about sun, moon, spider, ocean, turtle, strawberries, humans, and others, plus creation myths such as how the first rainbow appeared, why some trees stay green, why sun and moon live in the sky, and how night came from the sea. She performs and teaches to all ages in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide. The stated mission of the program is that storytelling helps people make sense out of their lives, nurtures relationships, enhances sensitivities, activates imagination, and connects people with the world.
