heARTful Kids Summer Camp is part of heARTful Kids, an educational consultancy and creativity incubator that serves kids, educators, families, and organizations with access to transformative educational experiences. heARTful Kids has evolved from decades of dynamic educational support with children and families in the fields of art therapy, expressive arts, play therapy, behavioral therapy, structured literacy, and academic tutoring. The program’s mission is to help kids and those that care about them leverage their innate creativity as a vehicle for greater self-awareness, joy, and connection to their unique learning process, and to cultivate a love for learning through creative skill building that empowers kids with social-emotional intelligence and leadership abilities. Programs expand the definition of art by blending empirical, therapeutic frameworks into structured opportunities to cultivate self-awareness, build deep connections, explore new ideas, and apply these learnings to everyday life, combining social-emotional learning with neuroscience, behavioral science, and expressive arts.

The camp uses art to build leaders and co-create a culture of belonging, courage, and kindness, with a focus on leadership skills and growth mindset thinking, creative risk-taking, collaboration, self-expression, and confidence-boosting social-emotional frameworks. Each camp day is designed with an intentional balance of community building, interdisciplinary arts integration, growth mindset empowerment, and open play, and every morning begins with a community circle where the Mindset Mode for the day is discussed and a culture of courage and kindness is co-created. The final Friday of camp follows a different schedule to prepare for a final Showcase at the end of the day. The camper to educator ratio is approximately 6 to 1, sometimes less, and the program offers mentorship with trained leaders from a Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program for rising 7th–9th graders. The camp emphasizes an inclusive and compassionate space that supports kids with different learning styles and needs, provides access to a proven transformative arts curriculum, integrates exploration of leadership skills, and includes mindfulness for confidence and emotional well-being within a supportive, multi-generational community of artists. Frameworks leveraged include Expressive Arts, Transformative Arts, Play Therapy, Visual Learning Strategies, Sequential Visual Literacy, Applied Behavior Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Educational Psychology, Social-Emotional Learning Frameworks, Embodied Cognition, Movement and Games, and Mindfulness and Movement Practices.
