Junior Center of Art and Science offers activities in visual arts, creative coding, carpentry, fashion design, sensory play, and coloring. The program also includes chances to see reptiles get fed, view the latest gallery exhibit, and take part in Birthday Parties, Art Parties, science celebrations, and Field Trips & Workshops.

Projects at Junior Center of Art and Science are led by professional artists and educators. The Junior Center of Art and Science states that it cultivates curiosity and creative exploration for youth through the arts and sciences. The organization offers After-school Enrichment with small class sizes for ages 6–13 and Summer Camp with 1 week and 2 week full day camps for ages 6–17. It also hosts Saturdays at the LAB free drop-in programming and presents exhibitions such as “Wham! Bam! Queer! A comic and zine exhibition portraying different perspectives of queer identities” and “Wandering Stars — Young Artists Portrait Show.” For over two years, the organization has been working on a new look, a new name, and a renewed vision.

Junior Center of Art and Science is a Kids Art & Science Center in Oakland and serves as host and convener for the Lake Merritt Stewards Initiative. It is dedicated to providing equitable access to programs for youth and their families throughout Oakland and the greater East Bay Area, with partnerships that include the Bernard E. & Alba Witkin Charitable Foundation of Art and Science. The organization also offers space rental for events such as board retreats and casual wedding receptions.
