On Stage - Kids 'N Dance 'N Theater Arts

On Stage - Kids 'N Dance 'N Theater Arts offers dance, musical theater, gymnastics, and circus arts activities. The program uses these activities as ways to fill vacation weeks and features an expanded circus arts program. Most musical theater and dance shows have reserved seating, and the program presents high-caliber theater shows.

Kids 'N Dance was established in Lafayette in 1996 and expanded to Kids ‘N Dance ‘N Theater Arts four years later. The program describes itself as a performing arts center that grows with a child, with youngest students having their imaginations nurtured and being guided to trust their abilities to express themselves with new skills, and older students moving into more formal instruction that is non-competitive, well structured, and appropriately rigorous. Kris Mueller’s vision is, first and foremost, to inspire students, and the instructors, curriculum, and approach to teaching aim to create experiences that capture creativity and allow it to blossom through dance, musical theater, and circus arts. The organization states that its high-caliber theater shows are a testament to the value of its progressive approach to performing arts and that it brings programming to the greater Bay Area.

One Oakland client in 2010 described a 5th birthday party at the program, noting that the teacher led the girls in a series of dances with stories and costume changes, remembered all the girls’ names, included a younger sibling who was barely three, and took the group to an acrobatics room, and that several friends wanted to have their parties there as well. Another Oakland client in 2015 said their kids received high quality music theater instruction without the pressure and intense schedule of some other options. An Oakland client in 2013 said the teachers are incredible dancers who really care about the children and want the experience to be meaningful.
