Summer at LACM offers week-long music programs that include bass, guitar, drum, piano, vocal, and jazz performance, as well as rap & hip-hop, songwriting, music production, and advanced music production. Students can take part in composing for visual media, music entrepreneurship, A&R workshops, industry panels, master classes, private lessons, recitals, large ensembles, live performance, and recording sessions. Activities also include drum and vocal production, mixing, playing with the pros in ensembles, melody and lyric writing, sampling, MIDI production, beat-making, artist development, artist management, marketing, licensing and publishing, and film, TV, and video game scoring, along with options to record one to two original songs in a recording studio and create a performance style music video or a logo and branding package within a hybrid schedule of classes and sessions.

Programs are taught by award-winning and seasoned faculty members, including Grammy, BMI, and People’s Choice award-winning musicians, recording artists, producers, and entrepreneurs, and take place in fully equipped studios and a production lab. The Independent Artist Study option includes a hybrid schedule of classes and sessions plus four half-hour private lessons, and the Pro Artist Study option includes recording one to two original songs and a performance style music video, plus a logo or branding package. Summer at LACM offers a 20% off Early Bird Discount for those who apply by April 15 and enroll by May 1, is offered to all skill levels, and has a grant available for accepted students in financial need. Full scholarships are offered to applicants with financial need for the Rap & Hip-Hop: Change the World program, and all tracks in that program must contain lyrics with a positive message; this program partners with the Subversive Foundation. The program states a mission of establishing an environment for limitless creativity, developing a foundation of innovative music education, and building industry relationships, and it has been recognized as a Billboard Top School for Music Business. Virtual Pre-College & Summer programming for musicians of all ages is also offered as community programs.
