Firecracker Math offers year-round math classes in-person and online, as well as after-school enrichment programs, math competitions, test prep courses, private lessons, and custom learning pods. The program also runs summer math camps, winter camps, and Math Festivals for families.

Firecracker Math provides small group and private instruction on extra-curricular math topics, with lessons supplemented by hands-on activities. Its curriculum focuses on exploration and understanding of mathematical concepts, with an emphasis on problem solving and logical reasoning, including advanced topics such as number theory, geometry, combinatorics, and probability. Math Summer Camps are offered in multiple locations, including Oakland/Piedmont, Berkeley, San Francisco, Lafayette, Mill Valley, Danville, and Alameda, and math enrichment courses for grades K–11 are available both in-person and online, including courses such as Concepts of Algebra and Competition Test Preparation.
Firecracker Math’s mission is to spark a child’s joy for math, deepen their knowledge, and further develop their aptitude and talent in math. The program maintains small group sizes to support close teacher-to-student interaction and attention to each child’s needs and pace of learning, and it fosters a creative learning environment. Firecracker Math employs well-trained, enthusiastic teachers with advanced degrees in math or science.
Firecracker Math was founded in 2011 as a children’s newspaper called the Firecracker Forum, which launched a math enrichment program for children in grades K–11 in the fall of 2011, and Ella Levine founded the Firecracker Math program in 2012. The leadership team includes Program Director and Teacher Ella Levine, Program Coordinator and Teacher Svetlana Livdan, Administrative Manager Amber DaVisio, and Outreach Manager Sherri Hansell. Firecracker Math is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and its parent company, Firecracker Forum, is also a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Firecracker Math has also hosted free Math Festivals for families.
Firecracker Math admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, and does not discriminate in its admissions policies, financial aid, and educational programs. The program offers a Referral Appreciation Program that provides a 5% discount off an entire term or summer camp tuition for every referred student who enrolls.
