Piedmont Language School offers Spanish and Mandarin classes where children sing, dance, paint, read stories, and play games in Spanish. The program offers classes in Spanish and Mandarin to children from TK through 7th grade, and also offers an adult Mandarin class in the evenings.

Piedmont Language School is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is parent-run and was founded more than 40 years ago by Piedmont parents. The Spanish program is provided by partner Viva el Español, a non-profit Spanish and Language Cultural center based in Lafayette. All Spanish teachers are native Spanish speakers with extensive experience teaching kids, and a targeted curriculum is in place, with beginners’ classes starting with a foundational oral approach and then advancing to reading and writing as students’ knowledge grows. Piedmont Language School is committed to preparing and inspiring children for continued study, work and citizenship in a global community, and supports, advocates, and creates opportunities for world language learning and cultural exposure. The organization also champions language and culture in the community and supports the school district by raising funds to advocate best practices and innovative thinking in the classroom. Piedmont Language School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, and offers scholarships on a need basis. The Executive Director of Piedmont Language School is Jennifer Poole.
