King Harbor Youth Foundation Sailing Programs offers Learn To Sail Classes, Opti Beginner, Opti Intermediate, FJ Beginner, Adventure Sailing, Club Race Teams, High School Sailing, and Adult Sailing Classes. Learn To Sail Classes run in Spring, Fall, and Summer, with Beginner and Intermediate Opti year round, plus FJ Beginner and Martin 242 Adventure Sailing in the Summer.

- Learn To Sail Classes — 7-18 · Spring, Fall, and Summer; Beginner and Intermediate Opti year round, plus FJ Beginner and Martin 242 Adventure Sailing in the Summer · Instruction available to youth. Beginner and Intermediate Opti year round; FJ Beginner and Martin 242 Adventure Sailing in the Summer.
- Opti Beginner — 7-12 · Prerequisites: 7 years old; must pass swim test on the first day. Age recommendation: 7-12 years old.
- Opti Intermediate — 7-13 · Prerequisites: meet the goals of Opti Beginner; must pass swim test on the first day. Age recommendation: 7-13 years old.
- FJ Beginner — 12-17 or over 110 lbs. · Prerequisite: must pass swim test on the first day. Age/weight recommendation: 12-17 years old or over 110 lbs.
- Adventure Sailing — 8-17 · Prerequisite: must pass the swim test on the first day. Age recommendation: 8-17 yrs.
- Club Race Teams — 8-17 · Opti Race and KHYF Race.
- High School Sailing — High school students · Facilitate South Bay High School race teams.
- Adult Sailing Classes — 18+ · Several times a year; 4-class sessions · Open to any skill level. Sailors 18+ will be accompanied by a coach and taught the basics of sailing or racing.

About the provider
The program was established in 1982. KHYF is a US Sailing Accredited Sailing School, and its coaches are US Sailing certified. KHYF supports local high school race teams and serves the community with the New Channels outreach program. Scholarship opportunities are offered, and students and community members are encouraged to volunteer at outreach events such as New Channels, Beach Clean-Ups, and fundraising events.
- Sail Away Boat Charters — Adults · Provides adult instruction and access to boat charters for qualified KHYC members.
The program accommodates children of all skill levels. Program placement depends on age, weight, sailing goals, and desired social interaction. No refunds are given if a student does not want to participate in the swim test. A student who does not want to take the swim test cannot participate in the camp curriculum or get on the boats.
