About
South Bay Eco Kids Nature Camp includes exploratory free play, scavenger hunts, journaling, trash-to-treasure crafts, nature- and environmentally-themed games, hands-on science activities, and a live wildlife show. The program uses five central camp themes: Nature all around us; Ecosystems and the services they provide; Water awareness; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; and Keeping our world clean. The camp does not use computers, smart phones, or man-made playground equipment, and each camper is given an Eco Kid explorer vest with pockets for holding rocks, leaves, and other natural treasures.

South Bay Eco Kids Nature Camp is a program of TeachingGreen, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people love and protect the natural world. The camp is described as an award-winning nature camp and strives to maintain a 7:1 camper to counselor ratio. Families are asked to send campers with a nutritious, filling lunch and snack (waste-free if possible), water (preferably in a reusable water bottle if possible), comfortable closed-toe shoes and socks, waterproof sunscreen applied before camp, a backpack for carrying personal items, and optional personal hand sanitizer, with the child’s name written on all items. The program asks that children do not bring personal items of value, toys or games including electronic devices, or any items that may cause injury or harm, and such items will be held by camp counselors and returned to parents at pickup.
