John and Pat moved back to Manhattan Beach in 1976 after studying music and moved their teaching studio to Gene Leis Guitars in 1981, where they remained until 1988 before opening their own shop. In 1991 they moved into retail space on the corner of Duncan and Sepulveda, and over the last 25 years they have worked side by side with their wives and children. John and Pat purchased their property in 1999, and after Pat’s passing in June 2023, his son Erik Dietz purchased the business. They describe themselves as blessed by the continued support and patronage from the surrounding South Bay community.
