• Ages: 18 months–5 years old
• Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00am–5:30pm
Food education at Dot to Dot Academy is led by a professional chef, and children participate in exploring ingredients and food preparation, including gathering together daily to share meals family-style. Children are supported by educators and child development experts in early childhood education, and work in a Design Studio guided by creative and architectural experts. The program includes a Food Atelier, Dot Cafe, and a Design Studio inspired by the Reggio concept of the “Hundred Languages of Children,” and follows an inquiry-based, research-informed learning philosophy inspired by Reggio Emilia with a child-led, inquiry-based approach. Programs are tailored to different stages of early learning with Seedlings for 18–30 months, Sprouts for 2–3 years, Roots for 3–4 years, and Stems for 4–5 years, and the Carmel Valley campus welcomes children from 18 months through kindergarten. The mission of Dot to Dot Academy is to protect and honor children’s innate intelligence so they remain boundless thinkers, explorers, and creators, with a focus on human development and emotional intelligence inspired by Positive Discipline and emotional intelligence practices, including guiding children in understanding and regulating their emotions to connect with others. Dot to Dot Academy has been trusted by families since 2015 and has 4.9 Google reviews.
One parent shared that their child attended Dot to Dot three years ago and still asks to go back and visit, and that the staff continue to greet the child warmly by name, describing the approach as child-led and inquiry-based and mentioning farm-to-table food. Another parent described the Reggio Emilia approach as being at the heart of the program, noted support for early reading skills and preparation for elementary school, and highlighted that every teacher and team member is warm, attentive, and caring. A third parent noted that their two children attend, appreciated the high-quality, nutritious vegetarian food and the food atelier where children learn about what they are eating, and described the art atelier as a place where children explore various materials, along with imaginative play supported by frequently rotated “provocations.”
