RBCPC Preschool offers a drop-off preschool program for children from 2–5 years old and parent and child classes for children from 1–3 years old. Programs range from one day a week to four days a week, and the program serves over 300 families and welcomes over 100 new families each year. The 2 year old program is the stated best entry point, followed by the 3 year old program, and then the 4/5 year old classes. The child-to-teacher ratio is 1 teacher to 4 or 5 children in 2 year old classes, and 1 teacher to 7 children in 3 year old and 4/5 year old classes, with additional staff as needed.

The program uses a developmental approach based on the concept of a “purposeful environment,” with programs described as developmentally appropriate in hands-on, engaging environments. The curriculum and environment are described as helping students be socially and academically ready for kindergarten and fostering problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and social emotional development. RBCPC Preschool states that it teaches children in a caring, play-based, Christian environment, is committed to celebrating the uniqueness of each individual, actively engaging in the community, and showing God’s love in everything they do. The program states that it embraces all children and families, values building meaningful relationships, nurtures academic, social, and spiritual growth, and develops trusting relationships through open communication. The mission of RBCPC Preschool is “to: Celebrate Uniqueness, Foster Community and Show God’s Love.”

The teachers and assistants on staff meet the requirements set by the State of California, including education and health requirements for people working with small children. Each staff member undergoes an extensive background check, CPR, and first aid certification. RBCPC Preschool is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The program states that it strives to cultivate relationships on and off campus, connect families with each other and the community at large, and share resources. It provides support for families and the community through educational classes offered on campus.

The preschool states that it fully understands that “toilet learning” is a process and welcomes partnering with families as children go through the steps. For children in the 2-year-old preschool program, there is a diaper changing area for those who have not yet started the process, and staff work with children on toilet learning if they are currently in the process. Families are encouraged to send their 3–5 year old child to school in underpants and to send extra clothes in case an accident occurs.

Parent testimonials describe the program as a positive first school experience and note that class ratios are “fantastic” and that children enjoy the outdoor kitchen and playground areas. One parent, Sarah W., says it has been “the perfect introduction to school” and that she looks forward to starting the program with her youngest child. Another parent, Briana C., says she values how the preschool focuses on what she sees as important in early education and that her son runs in with a smile. A third parent, Lois A., says the teachers are kind with every student, try to accommodate how children learn best, and that her children loved the outdoor kitchen and playground areas, describing the staff as “like family.”
