Camps and classes are led by professional artists, with small groups in a supportive studio environment. The teacher-student ratio is 6 to 1 in camps for 6–10 year olds and 7 to 1 in camps for 10–18 year olds. Programs are described as being for kids and teens who want to build real artistic skills while enjoying a fun and creative environment, with curriculum complexity adjusted for different skill levels. Teen classes are project based, with individual plans created by the teacher for each student, and adults receive detailed lectures for every topic that might last up to 45 minutes. The school does not recommend adults take classes with children and does not provide such mixed-age classes, does not offer extended care before or after camps, and offers no refunds for new purchases but provides full credit or transfer for cancellations made up to 24 hours before the start. Art School of SF Bay states that its mission is to teach art fundamentals in a modern way and to provide comprehensive, well-rounded, high-quality art learning, and notes that its website design is by Art School of SF Bay graduate Iris Chang.
