YMCA of Greater San Francisco Summer Camps include day camps, specialty camps, and overnight camps where campers take part in sports, arts, STEM, and outdoor activities. YMCA Camp Jones Gulch offers a Traditional Overnight Camp, a shorter Mini Camp session for younger and first-time campers to sample the camp experience, and a Counselor In Training option for campers who wish to be a camp counselor someday while still experiencing camp activities. The YMCA of Greater San Francisco was established during the Gold Rush in 1853 and has existed for more than 170 years. Its mission is to empower each person’s journey and strengthen the foundations of community. It is described as one of the area’s largest community service organizations, serving more than 130,000 people through 15 neighborhood branches, more than 130 program sites, and one residential camp, and it is a 501(c)3 charitable community organization. The organization states that every neighborhood Y listens and responds so that community members help shape programs and services.
