World Team USA MuayThai BJJ & Fitness is led by Owner and Master Instructor Kru Sam Phimsoutham, who is a Thai/Lao trainer certified as “Kru” by Master Toddy and serves as Chief Instructor and Owner. The program’s certified instructors are described as bringing years of experience, knowledge, and expertise, with highly experienced instructors from diverse martial arts backgrounds and a unique pricing structure based on each instructor’s experience and profile. The curriculum blends traditional Muay Thai with a modern approach and is described as highly organized, with programs designed to support every stage of a martial arts journey and to meet varying needs.

The mission of World Team USA is to teach students about their strengths, how to build their confidence, how to relieve their stress, and how to find the discipline to reach their goals. The Team USA staff states that they go beyond the call of duty to teach self-respect, confidence, and discipline learned through martial arts, and they encourage students to set short, intermediate, and long-term goals for success in martial arts and everyday life. The program states that it respects every style of martial art, offers Kung-Fu as one of two options for kids, and offers Muay Thai only to those whose personality, goals, and lifestyle fit with Muay Thai at Team USA. The program notes that its unique programs have brought about dramatic and positive changes in many people and that it respects that every student has different goals, from becoming a World Champion in Muay Thai to nurturing mind, body, and spirit.

World Team USA reports a history of over two decades of offering elite Muay Thai training in the San Francisco Bay Area and displays 14 awards. Community involvement includes Kru Sam introducing Muay Thai locally by fighting black belts in the Bay Area, with interest picked up by figures such as Sifu Harlan Lee, Sifu Shane Lacey, and the Lozada family. SFPD Officer Paul Lozada gave Kru Sam his first teaching job at a small academy in downtown San Francisco, and these champions experienced Muay Thai competitions in productions by BJohn Promotions, Scott Coker’s Strikeforce, and Dennis Warner’s World Championship Muay Thai. Kru Sam, along with Coach Cung Le and Professor Navarros, brought the first “smoker” to the Bay Area in 1995.
