Pacific Battleship Center, which operates Battleship IOWA, was founded in 2008 and hired its first employee after saving the ship in 2012. Its mission is to ignite curiosity and connect communities to strengthen America’s role in maritime peace and prosperity. Pacific Battleship Center is an award-winning nonprofit organization, and Battleship IOWA was named an IAAPA member for 2026. The organization’s program pillars are Education, Veterans, and Community, and its programs include Battleship IOWA, the National Museum of the Surface Navy, LA Fleet Week, the LA Disaster Recovery and Resilience Collective, Life of a Sailor, and Freedom of the Seas. Through Battleship IOWA and related programs, Pacific Battleship Center invites people to explore the Life of a Sailor, connect with America’s maritime story and industry, and chart their path toward service, workforce, volunteering, and community impact.
