AC Swim Club

AC Swim Club offers learn to swim lessons and the Junior Otters program. The Junior Otters program focuses on sharpening swim team skills.

Founded in 1959 as the Ann Curtis School of Swimming by Olympian Ann Curtis, the program has been a swim lesson destination for over 65 years. It is estimated that over 40,000 students have learned to swim at the school. Ann ran the school until 1996, when her daughter Carrie took over, and Ann’s family owned and operated it until 2019. In April 2019, former Cal swimmers Nathan Adrian and Will Copeland acquired the facility from the Cuneo family, who had provided service to the community for 60 years. Nathan Adrian won the 100 meter freestyle at the London Olympics, becoming the first American to win the event since 1988, and added another gold and one silver medal on relays. Ann Curtis was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame, was inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1983, and in 1944 became the first woman and the first swimmer to win the Sullivan Award, given to the most outstanding amateur athlete in the United States.
