AC Swim Club

AC Swim Club offers learn to swim lessons and the Junior Otters program. The Junior Otters program focuses on sharpening swim team skills. The program uses the AC Swim Club swimming facilities, which include an office and pump room built by Gordon Cuneo.

Ann Curtis, an Olympian, founded the program in 1959 as the Ann Curtis School of Swimming. It has been Marin County’s premier swim lesson destination for over 65 years, and it is estimated that over 40,000 students have learned to swim at the school. The Cuneo family operated the school for 60 years, and in April 2019 they passed ownership to former Cal swimmers and Olympian Nathan Adrian and Will Copeland. Ann’s daughter Carrie began running the school in 1996, and Gordon Cuneo built the office and pump room. The program states, “Jump into our learn to swim lessons to start a lifelong love of the water.” For 60 years, the Cuneo family provided a valuable service to the community. Ann Curtis was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame and the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, and in 1944 she became the first woman and the first swimmer to win the Sullivan Award, given to the most outstanding amateur athlete in the United States.
