About

Marinwood Youth Programs & Camps offers a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program where participants work alongside camp staff and learn the day-to-day operations of camp and what it takes to be employed at Marinwood. CITs are assigned to a specific camp each session, are expected to participate in and assist with camp activities, help supervise campers at all times, work under the supervision of the Camp Director, and help provide a fun, positive and safe experience for campers. The program develops leadership skills through training, observation and practice, and Marinwood’s goal for CITs is to make friends, learn leadership skills, and enjoy a summer with Marinwood.

• Ages: 13–15 years old
• Schedule: Typical CIT hours are Monday–Friday, 8:50am–3:00pm, with one-week sessions running from June 15–19, June 22–26, June 29–July 2 (no 7/3), July 6–10, July 13–17, July 20–24, July 27–31, August 3–7, and August 10–14.
• Price: Program session fees are $130.

CITs can sign up for one or multiple summer sessions, and each camp typically has 3 CITs. Kids can participate in both the Counselor-in-Training program and the Guards in Training program during the summer. The CIT application deadline is Wednesday, May 13, and applicants must attend a mandatory CIT interview and training on either Tuesday, 5/19 from 3:30–5:30pm or Wednesday, 5/20 from 1:45–3:45pm; applicants need only attend one training date and must attend a training date to be eligible to be a CIT. Applicants will be contacted to schedule their specific CIT training date by mid-May, and session assignments and registration open Thursday, May 21. Eligible CITs will be assigned to specific camps based on preference and availability, with exact preferences not guaranteed, and CITs are assigned to weeks they indicated available on their application; some sessions are in high demand and CITs may be waitlisted. CITs are not required to register for all their assigned weeks, but their designated camps will not be held after June 1, and schedule changes after assignments are allowed, space dependent. CITs are assigned based on their marked age preferences, but friends are not guaranteed to be assigned to the same camp and pairing friends is discouraged. Families can register in person or email in a registration form complete with payment, and must register by Monday, June 1 or the spot will no longer be guaranteed.
