Marin Dance Theatre’s mission is to nurture and sustain the art and technique of classical ballet and contemporary dance for students of all ages through training and education, choreography, professionally staged performances, and community outreach programs. The staff works to provide a nurturing and physically healthy environment that cultivates discipline, the ability to work cooperatively, a sense of community and personal achievement, and a lifelong appreciation of dance as well as music, theater, and other associated art forms, with a philosophy of open, honest communication and support. Marin Dance Theatre has a team of professional teachers who provide personal guidance and are described as experienced and at the top in their field. The program serves students from all over the Bay Area and offers a curriculum that develops self-confidence and poise and nurtures dancers to reach personal excellence while creating a lifelong appreciation of the experience shared in the Marin Dance Theatre community.

Parents describe Marin Dance Theatre as a place where students receive excellent training and build life examples and friendships, and refer to the community as home. One parent notes that their daughter has been at Marin Dance Theatre for 11 years, that older kids look out for younger kids, and that it is a wonderful community to be part of. Another parent shares that their child started at age 3 and, by age 14, had developed as a dancer, built lasting friendships, and gained confidence on stage, with caring teachers who support each student as a dancer and as an individual and challenge young people when they are ready. A parent also describes Marin Dance Theatre as a phenomenal environment to master the intricacies of dance and ballet and as a supportive, enriching, and safe community of dancers and teachers to grow up with.
