About
Soundwall Music Camps focuses on instrument technique, vocal performance, band dynamics, song writing, and performing in a band. Campers study rock music history, basic music theory, understanding song form, and understanding odd time signatures. They also work on recording theory and techniques, developing bass and drum teamwork, rehearsing with their band, learning performance techniques such as dynamics, how to prepare for a performance, how to deliver the song in a performance, how to work together in a group, and communication skills.
• Ages: 12–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer session July 19–24, 2026.
Soundwall Music Camps are open to students who play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and/or sing and who have a minimum of one year of playing or study experience. On the first day of camp, students are grouped into bands according to their age, playing ability, and preferred music style, and performing in a band is one of the most popular aspects of the program. The camp ends with a final concert for family and friends in a state-of-the-art concert hall with professional lighting and sound, held in a 400-seat recital hall. Soundwall campers do not need to bring or rent equipment, since the program provides Mackie sound systems, DW drums, Zildjian cymbals, Shure microphones, and SWR and Line 6 amps, and campers only bring their basses, guitars, and drum sticks.
The program has had the same instructional staff for the past ten years. Teachers are working professionals, including two published authors, and several have music degrees, including one graduate degree, and the majority of the staff are over 30. Soundwall Music Camps state that students are encouraged to study, develop, and hone their craft, and that they learn that with practice, dedication, and a great attitude, they can become the best musician they can possibly be. Contributions to the program’s non-profit arm support the music equipment used at camp. The leadership contact for the program is listed as Adam at the email address [email protected].
