Karate Families

Karate Families offers Little Ninja for ages 3 to 5, with 50-minute classes that use fun karate games. It also offers Little Jr. for ages 6 to 8, with 50-minute classes that cover karate basics, kata, strength training, hand-eye coordination, and balancing.

Programs

• Little Ninja — 3 to 5 years old · This class is 50 minutes long. A fun and playful class – learn through fun karate games.
• Little Jr. — 6-8 years old · This class is 50 minutes long. Learn traditional Karate in a fun and disciplined atmosphere. Karate basics, Kata, strength training, hand-eye coordination, and balancing are all emphasized.
• Big Jr. — 9-14 · The focus of the training is karate basics, Kata, sparring, self-defense, as well as physical improvement, strength, and balance training.
• Black Belt Club — 7 and up, Brown Belt and up · Hardcore intense class. The goal is to prepare students for the black belt exam. This is a very serious and physical class by invitation only.
• Adult / Family — 15 and up, and children as young as 6 if accompanied by an adult · Kicking, punching, self-defense, sparring, fun, sweat, good times, and great memories.
• Personal & Private Training — One-on-one training. If your goal is fitness or to learn to fight, this option is fight training with a personal touch.
• Ninja Camp

About the provider

Karate Families was established in 2008. The leadership team includes Scott Greenwood and Emil Farkas 8th Dan. Scott Greenwood began learning martial arts in New York City in the winter of 1991, moved to Los Angeles in 1998, and began working in martial arts in the spring of 2001. He received his 1st Dan from Emil Farkas in 2001. Emil Farkas has run his school since 1970, and he now conducts a special monthly class at Karate Families, oversees advanced belt training, and teaches a special combat class on Saturdays.

Emil Farkas now conducts a special monthly class at Karate Families, as well as oversees the training of the advanced belts. He also teaches a special combat class on Saturdays (must call for details). Black Belt Club is by invitation only.
