Karate Families was established in 2008. The leadership team includes Scott Greenwood, Emil Farkas (8th Dan), Ben Cohen, Kyle Desser, and Micheal Linecker. Emil Farkas is an 8th Dan who has been running his school since 1970, has taught thousands of students in 48 years of owning his school in Beverly Hills, CA, and in 2001 awarded Scott Greenwood his 1st Dan. Emil Farkas is widely known as the “Sensei to the Stars” and is described as a legend in the martial arts world. At Karate Families, Emil Farkas conducts a special monthly class and oversees the training of the advanced belts, and he teaches a special combat class on Saturdays that requires a phone call for details. The program states that learning there is not like other places because every student is treated with gratitude and respect, and it uses the phrase “Doing Well, By Doing Good.” The stated mission is to enrich the lives of the student, help them develop skills they will use for the rest of their lives, empower students by developing their confidence through the realization of their goals, and to teach and share the values and lessons that karate has taught the founder.
