Hwa Rang Do World Headquarters Academy

Hwa Rang Do World Headquarters Academy offers martial arts training in a traditional martial arts school that maintains the classic values of Eastern thought. The program is for men, women, and children of all ages and is based on the martial art of Hwa Rang Do, which is described as “The Art of Unlimited Options.”

• Ages: 5–18 years old

Hwa Rang Do was founded by Dr. Joo Bang Lee in 1960 in Seoul, Korea, and Hwa Rang Do means “The Way of the Flowering Knights.” The art is based on the philosophy and spirit of the Hwarang Knights from 1800 years ago, who unified Korea for the first time in its history, and the school follows a noble code of ethics transmitted since the time of the Hwarang Knights, almost 2000 years ago. The code of ethics includes loyalty to one’s king and country, loyalty to one’s parents and teachers, trust and brotherhood among friends, courage never to retreat in the face of the enemy, and justice never to take a life without a cause, along with nine additional doctrines of humanity, justice, courtesy, wisdom, trust, goodness, virtue, loyalty, and courage. Grandmaster Taejoon Lee leads the program as an 8th Degree Black Sash in Hwa Rang Do with the title of Grandmaster and serves as President of the World Hwa Rang Do Association, and Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Joo Bang Lee is the Founder of Hwa Rang Do. The Martial Art of Hwa Rang Do emphasizes the balance of mind, body, heart, and spirit to maximize human potential so that one can live in harmony with others and nature, and it is described as one of the best ways to instill self-confidence so that one can overcome challenges and live life to its fullest. Hwa Rang Do is described as THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE MARTIAL ART IN THE WORLD.
