River City Rowing Summer Learn to Row & Junior Rowing Programs offers Learn to Row classes for middle school athletes, high school athletes, and adult athletes. The program also includes a Junior Rowing Team, a recreational middle school rowing program, and on-water activities such as canoeing and kayaking.

River City Rowing Club was founded in 1983. Its mission statement is: “We are DRIVEN to get people ROWING and keep people ROWING.” The club’s leadership includes President Paul OSullivan, Vice President Laura Legacki, Treasurer Earl Sanders, Secretary Glenn Miller, Facilities Director Gary Ashley, Junior Volunteer Coordinator Andrew Kerch, Master Volunteer Coordinator Kristi Shea, Past President Aston Tennefoss, Novice Masters Coach Kathy Naganumanovic, Intermediate Masters Coach Lea Park-Kim, Men's Advanced Masters Coach Estel Boix Nogue, Women's Advanced Masters Coach Raul Reynon, ROWsist Cancer Program Coach Jeanie Mascia, Youth/U17 Women Coach Grayson Hanson, U16/Novice Men Coach Kieran Edwards, Assistant Coach Nikko Cech, and Adult Learn to Row & U16/Novice Women Coach Arthur Ericsson.
The club’s nationally competitive juniors team provides instruction and training to over 60 high school athletes during the school year, and junior team alumni have earned scholarships to college. The masters program has approximately 150 adult members, with six teams and numerous independent rowers, and progresses from a novice to an intermediate team and then to three competitive advanced teams. The recreational middle school rowing program is for students ages 10–13, and teens in grades 8–12 are invited to try out junior team practices for two weeks before registering for the season, with new junior rowers welcome through mid February and no prior experience required.
RCRC offers Learn to Row classes for juniors and adults. RCRC also runs ROWsist, a community of cancer survivors who row from February through October, and ROWsist was founded in May 2023. The club hosts two annual regattas: a 5000-meter head race called “Head of the Port” that attracts nearly 1000 competitors, and a 1000-meter regatta called “River City Rebellion” that draws competitors from across the region.
RCRC makes canoes and kayaks available to youth groups such as the Boy Scouts. Coaches visit local schools’ P.E. classes, bringing equipment and giving rowing instruction to nearly every student at those schools. The club frequently welcomes collegiate and junior programs for spring break and dedicated training trips.
