Redwood Theatre Company Youth Programs & RTC Kids Camps include youth programs, RTC Kids Camps, youth outreach workshops, community arts workshops, master classes, full inclusion productions, gallery shows, theatrical productions, and musical concerts. The programs include full-inclusion productions that feature performing artists with different physical and intellectual abilities and produce original works and performances that celebrate diverse stories and uplift BIPOC and LGBTQ artists. RTC Kids Camps include hands-on activities and collaborative projects for young artists.
Redwood Theatre Company Youth Programs & RTC Kids Camps are part of RTC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides professional productions and education programs to Sonoma County. The mission of RTC is to make performance and art more accessible to youth in underserved communities. RTC is a Latinx and woman-owned organization that is committed to DEI values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, with a focus on providing arts programming and education opportunities to low income and Indigenous, Black, Brown, and other artists of color. The organization offers intentional outreach programs for vulnerable, underserved youth of color and full-inclusion programs and productions featuring performing artists with different physical and intellectual abilities. RTC’s SOL Club Community Arts Program promotes social harmony and violence prevention through art and cultural pride, and its artist residencies are designed to assist BIPOC and other underserved performing and visual artists. RTC sponsors community events that offer free shows featuring world class talent, professional Broadway performers, and Olympic level competitors in pop-up variety shows, and focuses on making the arts accessible to audiences throughout Sonoma County and Napa Valley. RTC collaborates with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ artists and storytellers to create inclusive spaces and works with local partners such as the CollabWERKS producing collective, THTR Productions, Sonoma County Pride, and the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber. Carmen Maria Mitchell is the Founder and Executive Director of Redwood Theatre Company and Redwood Ice Theatre and Co-Founder for FTA Productions (For The Art); she studied performing arts and social justice at the University of San Francisco, works as a professional singer and actor in New York and California, has held many leading roles in musicals, plays, commercials, and professional ice skating shows, and performed as a principal skater on a National Tour of Disney on Ice where she originated the role of the “Live Host.”
