About

Redwood Theatre Company Youth Programs & RTC Kids Camps include youth outreach workshops, community arts workshops, master classes, kids camps, theatrical productions, musical concerts, and other education programs. The programs also feature full inclusion productions, gallery shows, and special events and productions with professional singers, actors, dancers, poets, musicians, and figure skaters performing on synthetic ice. These youth programs are part of Redwood Theatre Company’s professional productions and education programs in Sonoma County.

Redwood Theatre Company Youth Programs & RTC Kids Camps are led by Founder and Executive Director Carmen Maria Mitchell, who studied performing arts and social justice at the University of San Francisco, works as a professional singer and actor in New York and California, and performed as a principal skater on a National Tour of Disney on Ice where she originated the role of the “Live Host.” RTC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a Latinx, BIPOC, women-owned organization with a stated commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Its mission is to make performance and art more accessible to youth in underserved communities, with a focus on arts programming and education opportunities for low income and Indigenous, Black, Brown, and other artists of color, including intentional outreach programs for vulnerable, underserved youth of color and full-inclusion productions featuring performing artists with different physical and intellectual abilities. RTC also runs the SOL Club Community Arts Program, which promotes social harmony and violence prevention through art and cultural pride, and offers sponsored free shows for the community featuring world class talent, professional Broadway performers, and Olympic level competitors in pop-up variety shows. The organization collaborates with local partners such as the CollabWERKS producing collective, THTR Productions, Sonoma County Pride, and the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber, and works with the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and other community members to raise funds for a planned state-of-the-art Cultural Arts Center in Windsor, CA.
