About
Learn to Bike Camp – Golden focuses on biking in a half-day Learn to Bike day camp. Aspiring cyclists practice a thoughtful progression from scooting to coasting to pedaling, using a supportive on-site environment. Campers are strongly encouraged to use their own bikes, but they may also borrow bikes from the camp fleet, which is part of a broader set of professional-caliber equipment used for activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and paddling.
• Ages: 3–6 years old
• Schedule: One Week AM Session, with 1-Week Sessions Monday–Friday
• Price: One Week AM Session Price $360; Early Drop Off - Starting at 8 AM $35; Avid4 Merch - Delivery at Camp Prices Vary (Tax Incl.)
Learn to Bike Camp – Golden runs only in the morning from 9:00–11:45 AM. The program offers camper-to-staff ratios of 5:1 for individual attention and personalized coaching. It is intended for first-time riders or kids using training wheels or balance bikes, not those who can already ride.
The camp uses professional-caliber equipment and top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids. Avid4 Adventure provides transportation to and from authentic local recreation areas and organizes big adventures in these recreation areas. Programs evolve as campers grow, from age 3 through 17, and the organization states that it believes in empowering kids of all ages from PreK–12.
The program is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which includes a promise to provide an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service.
Staff for this camp are described as committed, experienced instructors who are 18 and older, with serious safety and skills training and impeccable credentials. The organization states that its educators are essential workers, that it is committed to paying them a fair wage, and that its instructors are outdoors experts who enjoy adventuring and working with kids. Top Tier Staff are identified as the number one point of positive feedback from parents of campers.
Avid4 Adventure’s leadership is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. The organization states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that it was founded to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to ensure the future caretaking of the planet.
Avid4 Adventure is a Certified B Corp, is accredited by the American Camp Association, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. One parent testimonial from September 2023 reports that a child who previously used training wheels learned to ride without them during camp and later became fully able to ride after a few more park trips. Other parent testimonials from September 2023 describe mature, responsible staff who are excited to share their passion with children, a well-run program where kids learn new outdoor skills, and children who talk about camp long after it ends and look forward to returning.
