About

Learn to Bike Camp – Golden is a half-day Learn to Bike day camp where kids spend their time biking, walking their bikes, scooting downhill, coasting with their feet up, touching the pedals, and pedaling. The camp uses a time-tested method that progresses from scooting to coasting to pedaling and is intended for first-time riders or kids using training wheels or balance bikes, not those who can already ride. Campers are strongly encouraged to use their own bikes, but they may also borrow from the camp's fleet, which includes top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids, and campers must be toilet trained by the start of camp.

• Ages: 3–6 years old
• Schedule: One Week AM Session, Monday–Friday, with Learn to Bike offered only in the morning from 9:00–11:45
• Price: One Week AM Session Price $360; Early Drop Off starting at 8:00 AM $35

The program runs with camper-to-staff ratios of 5:1 in a supportive on-site environment and is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which offers the next camp free if its promises are not met. Instructors are described as skilled, patient, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and all Avid4 instructors are 18 and older with impeccable credentials and serious safety and skills training. The broader Avid4 Adventure mission states that the organization believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that kids at Avid4 Adventure build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The leadership team includes founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry.

Avid4 Adventure programs evolve from age 3 all the way to 17, and the organization operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The organization is a Certified B Corp, its summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, and it has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. One parent testimonial from September 2023 reports that a child who previously biked only with training wheels learned to ride without training wheels during camp and that stand up paddle board, kayaking, and biking became the child’s favorite activities. Other parent testimonials from September 2023 describe kids wanting to show parents what they learned each day, refer to Avid staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with children, and note that children were active every day and continued talking about camp more than a month later.
