Founded in 1989, Northwest Washington Little League operates as a non-profit educational organization that follows the rules and regulations of Little League International. It provides supervised baseball and softball programs in the northwest corner of the District of Columbia under the rules of Little League International. According to its mission statement, Northwest Little League operates numerous co-educational youth recreational sports development programs throughout the year to serve nearly 1,000 kids and is dedicated to the promotion and teaching of the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and citizenship through baseball, while teaching baseball skills to local boys and girls.
The league’s Board of Directors is a volunteer group of parents, coaches, and community members elected yearly at an annual community meeting held in September, with board terms beginning in January. The leadership team includes Rick Bielke (President), Scott Anderson (VP of Baseball), Erick Slack (VP of Softball), Greg Berlin (Treasurer), Zach Drikas (Secretary), J.P. Fielder (Player Agent), a vacant Safety Officer position, Mike Barkett (Lead Coaching Coordinator), and At Large Members Jon Bennett, Andrea Cuba, Robyn Poole, Jenn Scott, Leslie Tullio, and Dierdre Wells. Northwest Washington DC Little League is governed by a constitution that was ratified in December 2024 and submitted to Little League Baseball Inc.
