About

Kids Elite Sports Camp offers a mix of sports and activities that include interactive football, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, kickball, futsal, swimming, Running 101 sessions, recreational games, free play, badminton, tug of war, speed and agility drills, and board games. Campers also have a daily 30-minute reading block and can take part in both recreational and competitive options for basketball, soccer, and kickball. Recreational games at the camp teach strategy and use the core ELITE values of Effort, Leadership, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence, and a “Camper of the Day” is selected from each group at the closing huddle based on the day’s core value.

• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions with camp days from 9:00am–3:00pm, with optional Before and Aftercare
• Price: The cost for Before and Aftercare for the entire day is $150 per week; daily drop-in for Beforecare is $10 and for Aftercare is $30 per day

Before and Aftercare services run from 7:30–9:00am, with an 8:00am start at the Murch location, and from 3:00–6:00pm in the afternoon, and free play is offered before the camp day begins as unstructured time with self-selected activities. Kids Elite is the only camp in the DMV that offers Interactive Football for campers ages 8 and up. Running 101 sessions are used as a foundational block for building agility and athleticism, and UA Premier Training programs are available for dedicated and experienced youth athletes ages 8–18 who want to develop skills and excel in their primary sports. Campers are asked to bring their own lunch, a water bottle, extra face masks, and any needed sunscreen or medical supplies for allergic reactions, and families are instructed to clearly label all belongings with the child’s full name.

Kids Elite’s mission is to empower children to live healthy and active lifestyles through high-quality developmental sports, fitness, and enrichment programs, and it provides a foundation for child development through individual and team sports. The Kids Elite staff is handpicked, screened, and certified with many hours of training, and counselors complete rigorous training to ensure that the camp’s core goals and beliefs are exemplified. Desmond Dunham (“Coach D”) developed the idea in 2013 and officially launched Kids Elite in summer 2014. By summer 2019, Kids Elite offered eight weeks of summer camp and hosted more than 130 campers each week, and it expanded to a second location. In 2020, Coach D partnered with Under Armour as an ambassador and coach to host premier training programs for dedicated youth athletes, and Kids Elite did not offer in-person camps that year but did offer free virtual sessions. In 2023, Kids Elite reopened after hosting camp virtually during the pandemic and offered camp throughout the summer at its Murch and Jackson-Reed sites. In partnership with Under Armour, Kids Elite provides tailored training to dedicated, experienced young athletes looking for a competitive edge.

Parents describe Kids Elite Sports Camp as welcoming and engaging for children as young as four and up through preteens, with several noting that their children returned for multiple summers. One parent of a four-year-old called the daily drop-in option a “life-saver” when daycare closed unexpectedly and said the staff eased the drop-off process and made the child feel welcome. Another parent of a four-year-old who struggles with focus and listening reported that the staff showed patience, thoughtfulness, kindness, and understanding over two summers. Parents of children ages 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 mention that their children enjoyed the variety of sports, the mix of activities, the tournaments, the weekly notes home, and the Counselors in Training program. One parent of an eight-year-old said, “There’s something for everyone,” and another shared their child’s quote: “I’m having a much better time at Kids Elite than on weekends.” Several parents note that their children came home tired each day and wanted to return, and one grandparent of an eight-year-old highlighted that the camp includes teambuilding, working together, being supportive of one another, and celebrating each other. Multiple parents specifically praise the counselors and coaches, describing them as warm, welcoming, and helpful with drop-off and acclimating children who had rough mornings.
