Richmond-Perrine Optimist Club Youth Sports Programs include tackle football, cheerleading, dance, basketball, and baseball. The Richmond-Perrine Optimist Club Youth Sports Programs are part of the Richmond-Perrine Optimist Club, Inc. of Miami. The club is a 501C-3 non-profit organization. The club states that its sports programs use trained, background checked volunteer coaches to provide a safe learning environment for kids 4–15 years old, where they can learn sports skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork ethics, while also having fun. The club was founded in 1971 with a primary goal of providing organized sports programs and activities for community youths and has been serving Miami-Dade County and the South Miami community since 1971. It is home of the Richmond Perrine Giants, 3-time Pop Warner Football National Champions and 4-time Pop Warner Cheer/Dance National 1st Place Champions. The organization has also provided social services such as counseling and guidance programs, work experience and job opportunities, paint-up/fix-up services to homes of elderly residents, summer camps, community gardens for senior citizens, distribution of surplus food and clothing to people in need, tutoring services, employability skills training classes, oratorical contests, and scholarships. The club notes that it is sponsored in part by “We Need You Make a Donation.”
