Founded in 1979, Oak Ridge Children's Academy has more than 44 years of child care center operation and professional care in Orlando. The center describes itself as a pioneer in education-based care with 44 years of experience and is recognized locally and nationally for excellence in care and service. It offers preschool and private school programs, with a private school as the final step in a School Readiness Pathway, and it accepts VPK and School Readiness. The VPK Program is suited for children who are 4 years old or will reach that age by the upcoming September of the current year and is conceptualized to ease young children into more structured early childhood learning. The center provides a free personalized tour of its facilities and uses a personalized approach to learning that includes conscious social interaction and teacher-guided activities to support and enrich development. The program includes the SNAP (Stop Now And Plan) Program, which equips high-risk youth and their families with strategies to enhance pro-social skills, helping the youth remain in school and avoid trouble by making better choices.

The mission of Oak Ridge Children's Academy states that an effective child-care center recognizes and assesses each child's social-emotional development, intellectual growth, and physical skills. The mission also states that the curriculum is everything that happens in the classroom, from interactions and meals to singing and playing, and that staff never miss an opportunity to educate. The program continues to develop and build on a child's existing informal education and holistic needs, recognizing that children enter pre-school with different experiences, and uses teacher-guided activities to ensure that all children's development is supported and enriched. The mission further states that Oak Ridge Children's Academy focuses on the whole child with respect, love, a positive approach, and meaningful assistance, and that its goal is to serve the community with high quality child care that equips children with the life skills needed to thrive in school and life.

Teachers at Oak Ridge Children's Academy hold degrees in pre-school studies and are all certified in CPR and First Aid training. All teachers also have health and nutrition training. Each staff member must meet requirements that include Early Childhood Education Training, a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, CPR and First Aid Certification, and a passion for working with children. The leadership team includes Owner/Director Maritza Lopez and Director Mrs Julie. The center serves only nutritious foods, and physical activity is a top priority at every age and stage. The program states that it is committed to making a lasting impact on every kid, teaching them how to grow up healthy.

Oak Ridge Children's Academy has received multiple recognitions and credentials. In 1991, ORCA received the Gold Seal of Excellence from 4C in recognition of the excellent quality of daycare provided to the community’s children. The center has been recognized as a Florida Gold Seal Quality Care provider and is accredited through NECPA. It is recognized as a 5 star center within the community providing exceptional care for children from birth through school age. Out of 3,500 teachers in Orange County, Ms. Lizza Cruz, a VPK teacher at Oak Ridge Children’s Academy, was named Teacher of the Month by the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County for August.

The program is involved in the community by partnering with the SNAP (Stop Now And Plan) Program. Each SNAP program equips high-risk youth and their families with strategies to enhance pro-social skills, helping the youth remain in school and avoid trouble by making better choices.
