Camp Braveheart offers a day camp and a one-day family workshop where children, teens, and their caregivers take part in play, journaling, group discussion, art therapy, challenge games, and outdoor games. Participants engage in age-appropriate grief activities, small group activities, one-on-one support, creative expression through art and play, and creative memory projects and memory-making projects. The program also includes family connection activities, a morning welcome, and a closing remembrance ceremony.

Camp Braveheart is a free one-day grief support workshop for children, teens, and their caregivers who have experienced the death of someone they love, and it is also described as a day camp for children and youth who have experienced the death of a loved one. The Camp Braveheart Family Workshop is a one-day grief support experience for families who have experienced the death of a loved one, and it is designed for families at any stage of their grief journey. Children and teens who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, family member, or significant person in their life are invited to attend with a caregiver, guardian, or parent. Families take part in age-appropriate activities, memory-making projects, grief education, outdoor games, and a closing remembrance ceremony, along with opportunities to connect with other families, practical tools for coping with grief, and time to remember and celebrate their loved one. Lunch is provided courtesy of Chick-fil-A, space is limited, and registration is required, and after submitting registration a member of the bereavement team contacts families for a brief phone conversation to ensure the workshop is the right fit.
Camp Braveheart is facilitated by a team of licensed social workers, therapists, and trained volunteers, and the workshop is led by licensed bereavement counselors, social workers, therapists, and specially trained volunteers. Volunteers may work directly with campers as “Big Buddies” providing assistance with activities and one-on-one support, or in a behind-the-scenes role helping with food preparation, setup and cleanup, and general site supervision. For more than 30 years, Camp Braveheart has supported children and families throughout Northeast Georgia, and its mission is to ensure no one grieves alone. The program states that grief can feel isolating, especially for children and teens, and that no one should have to grieve alone, and describes that through connection, creativity, and compassionate support, Camp Braveheart Family Workshop helps children and families discover that healing happens together and provides a welcoming space where families can remember the person they love, connect with others who understand, and learn healthy ways to navigate grief together.
