Riverside Stables Summer Horse Camp

Riverside Stables Summer Horse Camp includes Western Horsemanship, ground skills, grooming, hoof care, and work with equipment, colors, breeds, and markings. Campers learn how to ride and enjoy horses, along with horse care and management through educational sessions on horse health, nutrition, and stable management. The program also includes guided trail rides, riding lessons, field trips, a hayride, and can host private parties.

• Ages: 6–15 years old
• Schedule: Half Day Week for ages 6–10 runs Tuesday–Thursday with a morning session from 8am–11am and an afternoon session from 12pm–3pm; Full Day Week for ages 8–15 runs Monday–Thursday from 9am–2pm
• Price: Half Day Week $370/week; Full Day Week $590/week; a non-refundable 50% deposit is due at sign up, with the remaining balance due 14 days before camp begins; all payments are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable

Riverside Stables Summer Horse Camp has an average of 16 campers a week and offers camps tailored to the age and skill level of campers, with age-appropriate activities that introduce campers to Western Horsemanship from the ground up. Half day camps are available for beginners or campers with less time, and full day camps are available for those looking to dig deep into equine education. The program uses gentle horses that are described as perfect for first-time riders, and all necessary equipment and gear are provided for beginners in Half Day Camp. All riders under 16 years of age must wear a helmet, which is available on site or can be brought from home, and boots with a heel are recommended for all riders. For full day camps, a daily sack lunch is required and an afternoon snack is provided.

Riverside Stables has been making memories of a lifetime for over 25 years and is described as Springfield's Premier Equine Experience and the go-to destination for all things horse-related. The staff includes experienced CPR certified counselors and certified, experienced instructors. Guided trail rides and riding lessons are available year-round, and summer horse camps run during the summer. Riverside Stables has allowed campers from the abundant faith youth empowerment zone to horseback ride at the stables.

Parent and group feedback includes comments that a trail ride was wonderful and made for a great birthday, that a week at Horse Camp was a wonderful experience a camper wanted to repeat, that interaction with youngsters has been very beneficial for at least one camper, and that youth campers enjoyed the farm animals and the hayride.
