About
IU Bloomington Precollege Programs offers dozens of year-round and in-person options where students can learn to build robots, unlock the secret to success in the business world, step up their game at a sports summer camp, immerse themselves in the world of music and dance, or take an IU class. Some programs give participants the opportunity to live on campus in a residence hall, and some provide a sneak peek at what college life is like. The program also includes ballet, with at least one student describing dancing in the same studio space as college students and performing in a real show.
• Schedule: Many summer camp options; short, virtual precollege microsessions available any time and self-paced
IU Bloomington Precollege Programs offers virtual options that allow students to explore IU at home, as well as on-campus options. The Advance College Project allows students to take IU courses at their high school to earn college credit, and the on-campus Precollege Enrollment-Nondegree (OPEN) Program allows students to take regular IU Bloomington classes while still in high school. According to the program’s mission statement, these precollege programs allow participants to learn about and focus on subjects they love together with people who have similar interests. One testimonial from Tori, a Precollege Ballet student, states, “I love doing ballet at IU. We’re in the same studio space as the college students and we even get to perform in a real show!”
