Reading Corps, Math Corps, and Early Learning Corps are nationally recognized, research based, and evidence driven AmeriCorps tutoring programs. The mission of these programs is to help every child be a successful learner. These programs have served more than 570,000 students since 2003. Each year the programs partner with nearly 2,000 schools and mobilize more than 3,000 tutors. In some states, the organization manages every aspect of program management to recruit, train, and deploy AmeriCorps members as tutors, while in other states it provides technical support to partner organizations that have licensed the programs. AmeriCorps members are mobilized as tutors to make a difference in their communities and help create a brighter future for students.

One math tutor from St. Joseph, MN, shared that the role is about more than increasing math scores and described hearing students say, “Wow! That was easy,” or “Oh, I know this!” A reading tutor from Hugo, MN, said it is exciting to see students respond by saying, “Tell me more!” An early learning tutor from Miami, FL, reported accomplishing many personal and professional goals while serving and seeing students progress. Another math tutor from Fertile, MN, said a favorite part of the role is being in the classroom with a lot of learning going on and hearing students say they were lost but now understand. An early learning tutor from Minneapolis, MN, described how, in students’ eyes, the sessions are math games and reading stories that feel like play, while the activities are carefully researched and structured to provide deep learning.
