Braintree After School Enrichment
Braintree After School Enrichment Center, 426 Pond St, Braintree, MA 2184
About
Braintree After School Enrichment offers year-round care for children, including after school and preschool programs. The program opened its doors to 150 after school children and 30 preschool children for all-day, year-round programs. The lead teaching staff includes artists, dancers, musicians, and experts in fields that span the educational spectrum.
• Ages: 3–11 years old
• Schedule: Year-round care, including before school programs in each of the seven elementary schools in the town from 7:00 A.M. to 8:45 A.M.
The Braintree After School Enrichment program was founded as a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency in August 1985 by Roselyn Karll. The ground breaking ceremony for its facility was held in March 1997, and construction was completed in August 1998. Roselyn’s daughters, Alysa Rynne and her younger sister Meridith, continue her work of implementing comprehensive and inclusive educational programs for children.
The lead teaching staff is comprised of educators who are experienced or have received their degrees in early childhood or elementary education. All teachers are Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) certified, have college-level coursework in these fields, and each staff member is First Aid and CPR certified.
The program’s stated mission is: “Where children play and learn in a safe and caring environment.” The after school program also includes a branch for older children in grades 3–5, housed in an elementary school, with a mission to meet the emotional and social needs of this age group through community service programs in nursing homes, senior centers, and a local rehabilitation hospital.
Parent feedback includes comments describing the staff as “amazing” and “family oriented,” and noting appreciation that the program is open until 6:00 P.M. Parents also describe Braintree After School Enrichment as an “extended family” and highlight the organization of the summer program and the variety of “cool things to do” that make children reluctant to leave at pickup time.
