About
Camp Viva offers a mix of sports, crafts, painting, STEAM, and drama activities. Children can choose a core specialty in one of these areas and then spend the rest of the day doing additional activities from the other specialties. Campers take part in a variety of these activities and try different options during their time at camp.
• Ages: 6–13 years old
• Schedule: Camp Viva 2026 will run the weeks of 7/13 and 7/20.
Camp Viva has been operating since 2014 as a summer camp for elementary and middle schoolers. The camp describes itself as “The Specialty Camp for Everyone,” and notes that campers have the power to craft their day. Registration for Camp Viva 2026 opens January 24th at noon.
Camp Viva’s mission includes three stated goals: to provide a safe environment where children feel comfortable trying new things, to create a fun atmosphere where positive social skills are modeled and practiced, and to encourage belief in a growth mindset, where children can acquire new skills by working hard, having fun, and learning from each new experience.
Camp Viva is led by Director Andrea Foley. Andrea has over 15 years of experience as an educator working with children on a daily basis. She began her career as a middle school Spanish teacher at Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington, MA, then became a Tier III general education intervention specialist at the same school, working individually with students transitioning from special education to general education and with struggling students in general education. She also spent two years as an Assistant Principal at McDevitt Middle School in Waltham, MA. After becoming a parent in 2015, she returned to the classroom and currently teaches elementary school Spanish in Needham, MA. Andrea attended Simmons College, where she played on the Varsity Women’s Soccer team for four years and earned a dual B.A. in Education and Spanish with a minor in Nutrition. She holds an M.Ed. in Special Education and an M.Ed. in Organizational Management from Endicott College.
