About
Camp Lighthouse includes daily art and science projects such as watercolor painting, clay sculpture, and making volcanoes with lemons. Campers take part in water games like sponge tag, sprinklers, and time on a giant inflatable water slide, as well as field games and field trips.
• Schedule: Drop-off is at 9:00 a.m. for all campers, with pick-up at 3:30 p.m. for Fireflies and 4:00 p.m. for Beacons, Keepers, and Starbucks.
Camp Lighthouse states that activities are curated by a team of experienced educators and that counselors are dedicated to ensuring social and emotional growth and building confidence through leadership opportunities, trying new things, and cooperative play. The camp’s mission statement describes Camp Lighthouse as an enriching summer program where kids can be kids and parents can rest assured that their children are engaged in a thoughtful, safe, creative, and fun summer camp experience. The camp offers field trips that tap into the local community for enrichment and encourage exploration of the island’s natural resources. The program notes that it spends the majority of time outdoors and includes fun and inviting spaces for children such as mud kitchens, play structures, a Ga-Ga pit, and a basketball court.
Camp Lighthouse lists Camp Director Amanda Torchia and Assistant Camp Director Jessica Patnode as its leadership team. All staff participate in mandatory First Aid and CPR training, counselors are CPR and First Aid-certified, and they are trained to administer an Epi-Pen. The camp states that it must comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and be licensed by the Local Board of Health (LBOH). Camp Lighthouse also offers financial aid for camp.
Families are asked to pack a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, swimsuit, towel, and lunch and snacks for each camper. The camp asks that campers leave at home any technology such as tablets, phones, or smart watches, toys from home, bug spray containing DEET, soda and overly sugary beverages, and candy.
