Its mission is to educate youth and adults about the Annapolis area’s maritime heritage and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay through programs, exhibits, and community events. The Museum’s Education Center reaches more than 14,000 students and adults annually and offers four free core programs. Box of Rain serves Annapolis youth and connects under-resourced youth ages 8–14 to the Chesapeake Bay through year-round programs. The Eastport community plays an important role at the museum, which hosts regular events throughout the year and is described as a major community asset serving Anne Arundel County and beyond.
