The Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Program (WHJESP) offers activities in basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, softball, baseball, and other sports. The program also includes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects and wellness initiatives. For over 40 years, WHJESP has offered free access to these sports, STEAM projects, and wellness initiatives.
The leadership team includes Willie D. Jones Jr., PhD, CEO; Mykia LaNae Gibson, Program COO; and Aswad Jones, Program Director. The stated mission is to improve the emotional, social, and physical health of under-served youth in the community and to build critical life skills while nurturing talent. The program’s community involvement is described as continuing Jones’ vision for a brighter future through opportunity and mentorship.
