The Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Program (WHJESP) offers activities in basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, softball, baseball, and other sports. The program also includes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects and wellness initiatives. One featured event is the 11th Annual S.T.E.A.M. Fair “Code, Create, or Play,” where students showcase creativity through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

For over 40 years, WHJESP has offered free access to sports, STEAM projects, and wellness initiatives. The program’s stated mission is to improve the emotional, social, and physical health of under-served youth in the community and to build critical life skills while nurturing talent. The leadership team includes Willie D. Jones Jr., PhD, CEO; Mykia LaNae Gibson, Program COO; and Aswad Jones, Program Director. According to its community involvement statement, WHJESP focuses on providing children with sports and educational opportunities and on inspiring and empowering under-served youth by breaking barriers and fostering opportunities.
