About
International Soap Box Derby STEM Summer Camp includes daily rides in a Soap Box car down the Derby Downs Track (weather permitting, at least once per day), hands-on STEM projects, and a Soap Box Derby Mini Car race. Campers design, build, race, and take home a Mini Soap Box car, tour the Soap Box Derby Museum, and meet and make new friends. The week ends with a Family Day where family and friends watch and cheer during the Mini Car and full-size Soap Box Derby championship races, and cheer the Mini Soap Box Derby race finalists.
• Ages: 8–13 years old
• Schedule: Five-day program, June 8–12, 2026, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. daily
• Price: $240 per child when paid on or before March 31; $255 per child after March 31 (2026 STEM Summer Camp cost stated as $255)
Certified teachers teach the camp, with Junior Camp staff assisting. The International Soap Box Derby is a youth gravity racing program that has been inspiring new generations of champions since 1934 and is the official sanctioning body of Soap Box Derby racing and host of the annual Soap Box Derby World Championships. The International Soap Box Derby is a non-profit youth education and leadership development organization whose mission is to Inspire the Next Generation of Champions, Bring STEM Education Out of the Classroom, Promote the Derby Experience, and Cultivate Lifelong Skills & Character. Campers are asked to bring a morning snack, lunch (with refrigeration provided), a water bottle for use at water filling stations, sunglasses, and an optional camera, and they are required to wear sunscreen, comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather, and closed-toed shoes. All participants must always wear closed-toed shoes, and anyone riding down the track must sign a waiver at check-in; parents or guardians must sign children in and out each day and list any alternate pick-up person on the sign-in form.
