Training includes comprehensive basketball skill instruction, goal setting, leadership, developing confidence and mental toughness, the importance of personal faith, and how to elevate life and game, and camps are described as high-energy and fun. Campers receive a personal evaluation and a leadership and basketball training booklet, and they are grouped by age, skill, and experience.

The daily schedule for the Complete Player Basketball Camp includes overnight and extended day options from August 10–13, with first-day check-in beginning at 12:30 pm for both overnight and extended-day campers and last-day check-out at 4:00 pm. NBC Camps states that its motto is “better players, better people,” and that NBC means Nothing Beats Commitment. The mission includes teaching the importance of gratitude, confidence, goals, self-discipline, mental toughness, building stronger families and friendships, and developing a strong personal faith that provides strength to encounter challenges. NBC Camps emphasizes servant leadership and teaches players how to play with intensity, grit, resilience, focus, intelligence, joy, and gratitude. NBC Camps are for students who love the game enough to work hard for their dreams, and coaches are trained to serve others, be intentionally engaged with each camper, and operate as professionals.

The camp is led by expert coaches, and most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. The staff-to-camper ratio is approximately 1:10, and campers are responsible, along with coaches, for providing energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement to create a positive culture and learning environment. Campers are grouped by age, skill, and experience, and roommates need to be requested at least two weeks before camp begins; otherwise, campers are matched with a camper of the same gender and similar age. Housing has air conditioning, campers may bring a fan, there are two campers per room, and campers share a common bathroom with private stalls.

Intensity Night at camp involves sweat, music, encouragement, and “craziness” and allows campers to work harder than they have ever worked before while being cheered and encouraged, and campers set their own level of intensity and are not forced to go beyond their abilities. Camps include Intensity Night, games and tournaments, personal skill and athletic assessment, and training that focuses on total skill development and training the total athlete. Camps elevate skill levels through intensive skill training and by breaking down each skill into specific portions to create muscle memory, and campers receive high-quality instruction, useful correction, and a detailed understanding of the game for their level.

NBC Camps notes that it is celebrating 55 years of camp excellence and that NBC Camps is one of the largest and most respected sports camps in the world, as well as the largest overnight basketball camp program in the world. NBC Camps are located in six countries and offer summer camps, fall and spring training academies, year-round clinics, and international travel teams. NBC invites athletes ages 14–18 on international tours through the NBC Travel Teams program.

The Golden Ruler Award is the highest achievement at NBC Camps and is designed to teach campers to become a person of depth and reflection while instilling the importance of community service, discipline, and accountability. Only campers ages 13–18 may try for the Golden Ruler Award, and the criteria include journaling, designing workouts, memorization, testing, essays, and more. The Golden Ruler Award is part of the camp’s community involvement focus.

Players are expected to supply their own athletic equipment and have at least one pair of well-broken-in basketball court shoes, and campers need to bring their own ball clearly labeled with their name. NBC Camps is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Extended-day campers do not sleep on campus or eat breakfast on campus. At some locations, there is a camp store that sells snacks, sports drinks, and NBC gear such as t-shirts and sweatshirts, and when there is a camp store, there is also a camp bank where parents can deposit about $40–$60 for campers’ purchases. Transportation is not provided, campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own, and there is no supervision before or after camp hours, so parents must arrange timely pick-up.
