Brookings Arts Council Classes and Camps offers classes, workshops, and multi-day art camps for youth and teens. Since January 2025, the program has hosted more than 72 classes and workshops and sold more than 600 seats. The program also offers six multi-day art camps for youth and teens.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Regular gallery hours are Thursday–Friday 12–5pm and Saturday–Sunday 2–5pm, with additional class times scheduled during days the gallery is closed to the public
The mission of Brookings Arts Council Classes and Camps is encouraging community connections through the arts by providing a supportive environment for awareness, appreciation, and participation. Since January 2025, the program has given more than $1,000 in Art Break scholarships to community members to attend programming and classes, and an average of 15 weekly Advance clients have had a creative outlet through Art Factory. The organization has hosted eight diverse fine art exhibits, with one more planned, and four of these exhibits have been open calls for art or community collaborations. Community involvement includes four free Community Art Days in collaboration with the South Dakota Art Museum, a second annual Block Party for the Arts event in June, and four local clubs that meet monthly or weekly. Membership includes a 10% discount on classes when a special promo code is entered online at checkout and a subscription to a monthly email newsletter with updates on upcoming classes, artist receptions, and area art events. Families can also find updates through the program’s Instagram account @BrookingsArtsCouncil and Facebook page Brookings Arts.
