Metropolitan Performing Arts offers expert training for children and adults in acting, dancing, singing, and theatre tech, and presents professional theatre productions featuring talent of the Vancouver Metro area. The Broadway Minis program is split into three terms (fall, winter, and spring), and each term culminates in a performance experience for family at the end of the session. The organization’s mission is described as “A home where everyone is seen, heard and valued through theatre and live arts.” The program is supported in part by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission. The Executive Director is Kris Heller. Volunteer opportunities range from popcorn poppers to costume designers, and paid opportunities such as teaching and stage management are available. One parent review notes that a production of Heathers the Musical featured outstanding vocals, fantastic choreography, and a lead performance by local high school senior Kennidy, and describes Metropolitan Performing Arts as “a hidden gem” they would like to visit again.
